CAMA a.c. is looking for 3 performers (m/f/x) to join the team of the new creation by Daniel Matos – THE LUMINOUS VIOLENCE OF PERFECTION – with auditions taking place in Faro, Lisbon and Porto.
Where: Faro, Lisbon and Porto (Portugal)
When: 23 September in Faro (CAMADA Centro Coreográfico);
25 and 26 September in Lisbon (Estúdios Vítor Córdon);
1 and 2 October in Porto (venue to be confirmed)

CAMA a.c. is looking for 3 performers (m/f/x) to join the team of the new creation by Daniel Matos – THE LUMINOUS VIOLENCE OF PERFECTION.
“In THE LUMINOUS VIOLENCE OF PERFECTION I ask myself what a basketball game, a cavalry, and the body of youth have in common? To be as honest as possible, I don’t really know, but these are the first three images that come to mind when I hear Maurice Ravel’s “Pavane pour une Infante Défunte”. A pavane is a slow dance, associated with a procession-like and melancholic cortege, with a weight and a slowness that, to me, seem to carry a hidden speed. The truth I find in this drawn-out act of carrying a body tells me I am trying to delay the burial of youth for as long as possible. Perhaps because I realise I have left things behind, or because I feel I never lived through a leisurely adolescence that should have been eternal, I now find refuge in this time of the pavane to generate an endless, uncontrollable choreography. A fleetingness that never slows down from the beginning to the end of this cortege, thus questioning the real durability of the absence of pause, using time to its maximum exponential. Can a body dribble itself on court? Can wild stallions and mares gallop backwards as a way of escaping a destructive future?
Life as the plague and youth as the mountain. And we go to the top of the mountain not to enter, but to leave ourselves, to let the horses and mares run free, towards death or purification. I believe the time has come for us to breathe less and sweat more.”
Requirements:
• Performers with professional experience in contemporary dance, physical theatre, or movement-based practices;
• Strong research and improvisation skills;
• High level of physical preparation and endurance;
• Availability during all proposed working periods;
• Willingness for possible partial/full nudity.
